Iași

Known as The Cultural Capital of Romania, Iași is a symbol in Romanian history. The historian Nicolae Iorga said „There should be no Romanian who does not know of it”. Still referred to as The Moldavian Capital, Iași is the most important political, economic and cultural centre of the Moldavian region of Romania, as well as one of the oldest cities in our country. Deeply rooted in history, the city prides itself with publishing the first Romanian newspaper and establishing the first Romanian university, as well as the first National Theatre. Today, Iași is home to five universities.
